The Sunshine Carbon Arc has been used for the accelerated
weathering testing of materials for over 50 years. The arc is made using
3 pairs of carbon rods cored with rare earth elements and coated with
copper. The lamp is surrounded by a frame which holds 8 Corex "D"
filters, which are used to reduce ultraviolet energy below 260 nm. The
spectral irradiance of this source is very rich in energy between 350
and 450 nm and therefore it is a less accurate simulation of sunlight.
It is called for in many standards & specifications. Conforms to ASTM
G23 Type E, EH. |
